Leader Behind Southern New Hampshire University's Student Success Tapped to Lead Nation's Largest Nursing School

Appointment Signals Bold Next Chapter for Chamberlain's Growth and Academic Leadership

Covista (NYSE:CVSA), America's largest healthcare educator, today announced that Amelia Manning has been named president of Chamberlain University, effective May 18, 2026. Manning brings more than two decades of higher-education leadership and a proven record of building the institutional infrastructure that turns ambitious enrollment growth into lasting student success, a combination that positions her as the ideal steward of Chamberlain's next chapter.

"Amelia Manning is one of the most consequential student success leaders in higher education. What she built at Southern New Hampshire University, spanning predictive analytics and student support infrastructure, is exactly the foundation Chamberlain needs to fuel its next era of growth and student success. This is an institution that has spent decades earning a position no other university in nursing education occupies: a commitment to academic success, the rigor of strong clinical experience and a deep trust of the employers and communities it serves. Amelia brings to us the understanding that institutional scale and strong student outcomes are not competing priorities, and Chamberlain is uniquely built to deliver on both," said Steve Beard, Chairman and CEO, Covista.

Chamberlain occupies a singular place in American nursing education. It produces more nursing degrees than any other university in the United States, serving approximately 40,000 students across 24 campuses and graduating more than 155,000 alumni who practice across all 50 states. It has built a reputation that resonates with students seeking a rigorous, supportive path to practice and with healthcare employers who recognize Chamberlain graduates as practice-ready professionals. At the heart of that reputation is Chamberlain Care®, the institution's defining commitment to holistic student support that follows students from enrollment through graduation and into their careers. Manning arrives with a deep belief in that model, and the ambition to expand Chamberlain's impact and strengthen partnerships that connect graduates to the health systems that need them most.

"Chamberlain Care® is what sets this institution apart. That commitment to supporting students every step of the way is what produces extraordinary nurses—and extraordinary nurses are what earn the trust of the health systems and employer partners who depend on us to fill their ranks with practice-ready professionals. My focus is to grow this institution alongside Chamberlain's exceptional faculty and staff—ensuring that as enrollment increases, we continue to graduate nurses that healthcare organizations actively seek out. That is how Chamberlain will extend its leadership in nursing education for years to come," said Manning.

Most recently, Manning served as the Dean of Tulane University's School of Professional Advancement, where she expanded access to workforce-aligned programs for a broad national audience. Before Tulane, she spent 20 years at Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU), where she rose to become its Chief Operating Officer and was instrumental in the institution's rise as a national leader in online learning. During her tenure, she built data-driven student success systems, spanning predictive analytics, course design, faculty development and enterprise-wide support platforms, that powered SNHU's rise as one of the most recognized names in accessible, outcomes-focused higher education. She also helped earn SNHU "Great Colleges to Work For" recognition for 12 consecutive years. This experience, paired with Chamberlain's scale and nursing-specific mission, is central to the university's go-forward growth strategy.

Manning succeeds Dr. Karen Cox, who is retiring after more than seven years leading Chamberlain through a period of exceptional growth and academic distinction. Under Dr. Cox's leadership, Chamberlain solidified its position as the nation's leading BSN grantor and deepened the Chamberlain Care® brand promise across every campus and program.

"Karen has led Chamberlain with an unwavering commitment to academic excellence. Her legacy is an institution that is stronger, more recognized and better positioned than ever to lead nursing education into its next era," said Beard.

Manning holds a Master of Arts in counseling from the University of New Hampshire and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Saint Michael's College. She completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School and serves on the boards of Urban College of Boston and the American College of Education.
